Chief Executive Officer

Thomas Dohmke is CEO of GitHub and drives the company’s mission of making GitHub the home for all developers. Fascinated by software development since his childhood, Thomas is passionate about building tools developers love and creating products that drive software development forward. He previously co-founded HockeyApp and led the company as CEO through its acquisition by Microsoft in 2014. Thomas holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from University of Glasgow, UK. He lives in the Seattle area, is a LEGO enthusiast, and enjoys coding and making his GitHub contribution graph green in his spare time.

Dawn Beatty is Chief Human Resources Officer at GitHub, where she is dedicated to fostering a culture fueled by people who are passionate about building a global community of developers and doing the best work of their lives.

Prior to joining GitHub, Dawn was with Microsoft for 15 years, where she was the General Manager of Global Talent Acquisition for sales, marketing, and stores, and also held various HR leadership roles across Microsoft’s Office Engineering Division. Dawn has also served in key HR positions at start-up and Fortune 500 companies.

Dawn is a native of Detroit, MI. Outside of work Dawn supports charities focused on the education and empowerment of minority women. She also enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and live music.

Kyle is Chief Operating Officer at GitHub. Kyle joined GitHub in 2013 and built and scaled the Ecosystem Engineering teams and worked on the acquisitions of Semmle, npm, and others. He now oversees strategic projects, program management, and communications while supporting the GitHub Executive Team to be more productive and successful.

Prior to GitHub, Kyle worked as an engineering and product leader in FinTech, and ran an engineering consulting business. When he isn’t working with Hubbers and customers, he’s enjoying a quiet weekend in Connecticut with his wife and two sons.

Mike Hanley

Chief Security Officer & SVP of Engineering

Mike Hanley is the Chief Security Officer and SVP of Engineering at GitHub. Prior to GitHub, Mike was the Vice President of Security at Duo Security, where he built and led the security research, development, and operations functions. After Duo’s acquisition by Cisco for $2.35 billion in 2018, Mike led the transformation of Cisco’s cloud security framework and later served as CISO for the company. Mike also spent several years at CERT/CC as a Senior Member of the Technical Staff and security researcher focused on applied R&D programs for the US Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.

When he’s not talking about security at GitHub, Mike can be found enjoying Ann Arbor, MI with his wife and eight kids.

Shelley McKinley

Shelley is the Chief Legal Officer at GitHub, where she leads teams responsible for Trust and Safety, Social Impact, Developer Policy, Product & Regulatory Legal, Commercial Legal, and Legal Operations. Shelley started her career at Microsoft supporting parts of the Developer Division in 2005. Prior to joining GitHub, she was the head of Microsoft’s Technology and Corporate Responsibility organization, where she oversaw a team that drove the use of technology to benefit society through priorities such as Accessibility, Environmental Sustainability, Broadband Access, Responsible AI, and Justice Reform. She has also led legal, corporate, and external affairs teams across Europe and worked on products in Microsoft’s gaming division, including developer communities and Xbox Live. Prior to joining Microsoft, she was legal counsel at Wizards of the Coast, where she supported the “Dungeons & Dragons” and “Magic: The Gathering” brands.

Shelley is an outspoken proponent of mental health awareness and uses her voice to help address the affiliated bias and stigma, by advocating for a culture of openness and inclusion. Outside of work, you can find her enjoying outdoor concerts, tearing up the slopes on her snowboard and relaxing with her family and friends.

Inbal is Chief Product Officer at GitHub. Inbal is committed to empowering developers by creating products and services that enhance developer experience and productivity. Prior to joining GitHub, she led engineering and product teams at Amazon and Microsoft, focusing on the development of enterprise- and consumer-facing services. In her most recent position, Inbal was the General Manager of AWS Elastic Containers, where she was responsible for developing containers-based solutions to assist developers in modernizing their application development.

She enjoys spending her spare time with her husband, three children, and Havanese puppy, running between swimming, cross-country, and basketball meets. Additionally, she enjoys drawing and painting.

Elizabeth is Chief Revenue Officer at GitHub. As CRO, she is responsible for all aspects of our go-to-market and customer experience, including sales, customer success, support and operations. She is focused on GitHub’s revenue growth, strategic planning, operational excellence, and expanding our successful motions with parent company Microsoft.

Elizabeth joined GitHub in 2015 to build our US public sector business, a market where she had significant prior experience. Her tenure at GitHub has included leadership roles in nearly all aspects of our enterprise business. 

When she isn’t talking to customers about GitHub, she enjoys playing tennis and running. She can frequently be found on dog walks with her daughter and husband in their metro DC neighborhood.
